| Resumo | Understanding the behavior of vegetation involves complexity, however, remote sensing is helping to facilitate the analysis, supporting and providing data about the vegetation. The present study aims to conduct a comparative analysis between three ways to calculate the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data from digital numbers (DN) original and apparent surface reflectance. The study area is the city of São Carlos - SP and the used scene, properly registered, was obtained in the image catalog of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), coming from the Landsat 5 TM. To construct maps of NDVI were used bands of red and near-infrared image of the study area. The methodological steps were performed in Georeferenced Information System (SPRING - Câmara et. al., 1996) developed by INPE. The conversion of the original digital level data (ND) and further to apparent radiance to apparent reflectance occurred by applying equations LEGAL specific language implemented in SPRING. To convert the apparent reflectance data to surface reflectance model was used radiative transfer Second Simulation of Satellite Signal in the Solar Spectrum (6S - Vermote, 1997). With all three types of data in hand, NDVI maps were made. The results show significant differences between the NDVI originated from the surface data and the generated from the apparent reflectance and ND originals, showing the sensitivity of NDVI at atmospheric influence. |
